Pakistani cricketers once again caught in match fixing trap,a british tabloid carried out a sting that allegadly revealed two of the country’s finest fast bowlers deliberately bowling no-balls against English batsmens in return for cash amount.
Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir who have tormented England and Australia with their torrid pace and swing bowling through the summer,delivered three no balls on thursday and friday during the fourth test at lords at the precise moment when an alleged middle man said they would,the News of the World reported.
The news paper agency paid Mazhar Majeed,the alleged Pakistni origin middleman who has now been arrested,a sum of 150,000 pounds in used notes and filmed him counting the money before making his accurate predictions.The 35 years old Surrey property developer is reported to have named seven Pakistani players as being involved in the match fixing scandal,including skipper Salman Butt as the ringleader and Kamran Akmal.
Over the next two days,Asif and Amir delivered the no-balls exactly as predicted,the otherwise flawless quickies overstepping by such huge margines that commentators were surprised.The match fixer Majeed said,”I have been doing it with them,the Pakistani team,for about two and half years.And we have made huge amount of money”.
After information of this scandal,the metropolitan Police have informed the ICC,ECB and PCB that their investigations continue,and the ICC,ECB and PCB along with the ICC anti-corruption unit are fully asisting those enquiries.
